How much downtime will I experience?

Depending on your domain’s DNS, you may have little to no downtime. Your domain’s DNS determines how long it will take for internet service providers (ISPs) around the world to update their records. This process, called propagation, usually takes 24 to 48 hours. For this reason, we recommend you migrate your website during its least active moments-usually – weekends. By doing so, you can minimize any impact on your business. Remember, our goal is to keep any downtime to a minimum.

What about my email addresses?

If you have any existing email addresses that were created with your old hosting provider, you will need to recreate them with your new provider. The same applies if you have any email forwarders installed. If you are working with a third party service, such as Google Apps or Microsoft Exchange, you will need third-party to update the respective service settings.

Can I change my domain name?

Yes, we can move your site to a new host and set up your WordPress site to work with the new domain.

Is it possible to transfer to any hosting provider?

Yes, as long as the hosting company supports the WordPress requirements. To double check, we suggest contacting a hosting company before signing up for their services.

What information do you need to get started?

To start the migration process, we need your current and new hosting account details. Once we have transferred your website files and database, we will ask you to update your domain DNS.
